Shabbat Meal

Date: 11th Jul 2017 @ 3:52pm

Year 3 have been learning about Judaism. Today Year 3 role-played a Shabbat meal. Shabbat is the Jewish day of rest. Shabbat starts on Friday night, at sunset, when the Mother lights the candles. She puts her hands over the candles and says a blessing. Then the Father says a prayer and blesses the children. Next he cuts the Challah bread and pours the wine into the Kiddish cup. Shabbat ends at Sunset, on Saturday night. Everyone smells sweet spices to remind them to be nice to other people over the following week.
