Year 4 Residential to York Mrs Kelly's Class

Date: 23rd May 2016 @ 9:00pm

Day 1

We have arrived safe and had a lovely sunny afternoon walking around York centre comparing the buildings to the ones we can see in Crewe. We saw Micklegate Bar (the south entrance to the city walls), Yorkminster (Britain's second largest cathederal), Clifford's Tower (a Roman look out tower) but our favourite thing of all was the invisible man!! In the evening we had a yummy tea of chicken and chips, although some of us found it a bit spicy, with apple crumble and custard for pudding.

After tea we went down onto the racecourse and played games before coming back to the center to write postcards and think about our favourite parts of the day.

Day 2

After a good nights sleep, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. There was a cooked option, croissants, pancakes and cereal. Some of us had all of them! smiley

After breakfast we walked back into York and straight to the National Railway Museum, where we explored and took part in the great object hunt. We saw lots of old steam trains and carrages, some that used to carry past queens! We also saw some more modern trains, including a Japanese Bullet train! We learnt that this was very, very fast. All of us enjoyed sitting in this train and pretending that we were whizzing to somewhere really exciting.

We then went and ate our lunch in the castle gardens it was really sunny. Whilst we were there we mangaged to get really close to a squirral, this was really exciting.

After lunch we went to the Jorvic Dig experience. Here we got to be like real archiologists and dig up remains of buildings and sort through artefacts and ancient animal bones.

Tonight we have had a talent contest, Josh and Alex won after singing a wonderful version of Stressed Out by Twenty One Pilots. They even managed to persuade Mr Williams to push his Golden Buzzer!

We are all having a great time but looking forward to coming home and seeing you all tomorrow!
