Year 4 York Residential 2017 Group 2

Date: 29th Mar 2017 @ 9:41am

DAY !

We arrived at The Racecourse Centre safely at about 12.00. After we had eaten our lunch, we got back onto the coach and, after a short drive, we arrived in the centre of York. We saw Clifford's Tower, walked down The Shambles, saw  The River Ouse and, last but not least, saw the very impressive York Minster.

Skye said "My favourite part of today was walking down The Shambles on the cobbles and seeing all the old wonky buildings."

Izzy said "I enjoyed finding out about all the different buildings in York. I was shocked when I saw York Minster because I didn't think it was going to be so big!"

Lewis was the first one to see the sign for York when we were on the coach. He took great delight in shouting to let us all know. Today, he said "I have really enjoyed taking lots of photos on my camera and the lasagne and garlic bread for tea was REALLY NICE!"

Keira was so excited when she saw her bedroom and found that it had an en-suite whilst Kacie's favourite part of the day was sketching York Minster.

At the moment we are playing Beetle Drive inside as it is still raining outside. Before we go to bed, we are going to look at all of today's photographs, which we hope you all enjoy looking at too.

Watch this space for a new adventure tomorrow.

DAY 2

This morning, after a very large and delicious breakfast,we set off on the coach to York once again. When we arrived, we firstly went to The Dig where we became archeologists. We had to dig for lots of Victorian, Anglo-Saxon, Viking and Roman artefacts. Even Co-Jo bear joined in with us. Lucy said "We found bones, pottery, coins and a skull! I had to take around an object for everyone to look at. Little did I know, it was fossilised poo!" Caitlyn said "I uncovered a Victorian toilet. I thought it was just a bowl"

We then went upstairs to a workshop. A man was dressed up as a Viking and we had to pretend to be Lindisfarne monks and make a Viking house. Maisey said "We saw a wolf and a fox skin as well as a skin from a seal. They were used by the Vikings for keeping warm."

After a short walk in the sunshine, we arrived at The Railway Museum. We saw lots of amazing trains, some very old and some very new. Izzy said "My favourite part was searching the museum for the engine made in Crewe. It was called  the Duchess of Hamilton." Aimee said "I was embarrased when I saw my brother Jack dressed up as a railway guard." Whilst Brooklyn's favourite part of the day was spending all his money in the railway shop. Connor said "My favourite part of the day was climbing on the Japanese Bullet train. The seats were very comfy"

After returning to the centre and yet more delicious food,  we headed off down to explore the racecourse and have a few games. We are currently taking part in York's Got Talent!

Poor teachers!
