Mental Health &

Wellbeing at monks

At Monks Coppenhall Academy and Nursery, we encourage our children and families to be the best they can in mind, body and spirit. With this in mind, we continuously strive to be an emotionally healthy school, by adopting a whole school approach with regards to well-being. We aim to promote positive mental health for every member of our staff and pupils. We pursue this aim using workplace practices, universal, whole school approaches, including a non-punitive approach to Behaviour Recovery and specialised, targeted approaches aimed at vulnerable pupils. In addition to promoting positive mental health, we aim to recognise and respond to mental health difficulties through personalised support, group work and supportive activities.

Emotional Literacy support assistant (ELSA)

An ELSA in a school is an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant. There is a recognised training course aimed specifically at Teaching Assistants or other specialist school roles. ELSAs are trained and regularly supervised by Educational Psychologists.

Family Link Workers

Our Family Link Work as an additional point of contact in what is a large and busy academy. We work hard to make the school and parent/carer link stronger and to support our families in a way that means that everybody gets the help they may need at the time.
